No data leaves your device, because there is nowhere for it to go

Proverbs has no server. The app contains no networking code at all — it cannot send your information anywhere, even by accident. It works with airplane mode on, from the first launch to the last chapter.

What the app keeps, and where

So that your progress survives closing the app, Proverbs saves a small amount of information in its own private storage on your device:

• ◆Which passages you've marked memorized — the count on the home screen.
• ◆Which chapter you drilled on which day — what your streak is counted from.
• ◆Notes you write about a passage, exactly as you typed them.
• ◆Your settings — narration voice, whether reminders are on, and the hour you chose.

That data lives in the app's sandbox, which no other app can read. It is never transmitted. If you have iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup turned on, this file is included in your backup the same way every other app's data is — that backup belongs to you and is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not mine. I have no access to it.

Reciting out loud is transcribed on your phone, and not recorded

One station in the drill lets you say a passage aloud instead of typing it. When you start that station, the app listens through the microphone and uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to turn your words into text so it can compare them to the passage.

Two things are deliberately true about this. Your voice is never sent to Apple's servers or anywhere else — the app requires the offline recognizer and will not fall back to a network one. And no audio is saved: the sound is transcribed as you speak and discarded, and the transcript is used to grade that one attempt and then dropped.

If your iPhone does not have the offline speech model available, the app tells you so and the feature stays off. It will not quietly upload your recitation instead.

Notifications are scheduled by your phone, not by me

If you turn on a daily reminder, the app asks iOS to post a local notification at the hour you picked. Local notifications never leave the device — there is no push server, and I do not know whether you opened one.

The app collects nothing from anyone, at any age

Proverbs does not ask for a name, an age, a birthday, or a photo. It has no profiles, no account, no messaging, and no social features. Because it collects no personal information from any user, it collects none from children either.

I built this for my own family to use, and my children use it on their own devices.

Deleting the app deletes everything

Because your data is stored only in the app's own sandbox, removing Proverbs from your iPhone removes all of it — progress, notes, and settings — permanently. There is no copy on a server to request, correct, or delete, and no account to close.

If you want a copy of what the app holds about you, it is already in front of you: it is what the app shows on screen.

The text is licensed, and stays inside the app

The book of Proverbs in this app is the New American Standard Bible, NASB 1995, used under a distribution permission agreement with The Lockman Foundation. The text and the audio are bundled with the app and are not offered for bulk download or export.

If this ever changes, it changes here first

If a future version of the app ever collects anything, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version ships, and the App Store privacy label will be updated alongside it. There is no plan to do so.
